Pragmatic is transforming the semiconductor landscape with its pioneering flexible integrated circuits (FlexICs) - ultra-thin, low-cost chips that enable intelligence in everyday items. Through their UK-based FlexIC Foundry, Pragmatic delivers agile, sustainable manufacturing with rapid innovation cycles and enhanced supply chain resilience to their global base.

Pragmatic, based in Cambridge with a manufacturing site in Durham, operates the UK’s first 300mm wafer flexible semiconductor line. Pragmatic Park can produce billions of integrated circuits annually and aims to be the UK’s largest semiconductor manufacturer by wafer volume by the end of 2025. Its modular, compact model enables localised production, boosting global supply chain resilience.

Richard Price, Chief Technology Officer, Pragmatic Semiconductor, said, "I’m delighted to join the APPG Semiconductors Advisory Board to support the close collaboration of industry and government. Semiconductors are at the heart of AI-powered digital transformation and require both investment and innovation to meet demand and deliver on their potential.

"At Pragmatic, we’re doing semiconductors differently, paving the way for sustainable, scalable, and resilient manufacturing. I look forward to sharing what we’ve learned on our journey to help the Group shape its thinking around the Industrial Strategy now and in the future."

Their vision aligns strongly with the APPG’s mission: to champion a robust UK semiconductor strategy that drives innovation, strengthens our national security, and supports global competitiveness.

As we look to establish the UK as a hub for advanced semiconductor design and manufacturing, organisations like Pragmatic are vital. With the right investment and strategic focus, the UK can lead in critical technologies like AI, quantum, and next-gen communications, while creating high-value jobs and building long-term economic resilience.

The UK’s digital future depends on bold, innovative thinking, and we are proud to have Pragmatic contributing their expertise to help shape it.
