The APPG was originally set up in November 2023 but had to pause its activities when the General Election was announced in 2024. Following the election, the Group was officially reconstituted in July 2024.

Since then, it has made significant progress, expanding its membership, gaining increased support, and successfully forming its own advisory board.

Advisory Board

The APPG for Semiconductors is supported by leading organisations within the UK semiconductor industry. The Advisory Board provides strategic counsel and contributes to the running costs of the APPG.

Wyn Meredith

Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board

“My role as Vice Chair of the Advisory Board is to support the development of Domestic and International advisory streams for the APPG. The UK is well placed to address the global semiconductor opportunity which is on track to exceed $1Trillion pa by 2030, but we need effective, persistent policy decisions at pace and at scale to energise our industrial expansion.”

“As a career-long industrialist, advocate and supporter of the UK’s advanced semiconductor sector, it is my great privilege to be leading the APPG Advisory Board for Semiconductors, providing advice to the APPG in order to raise the profile of the semiconductor sector, which is so critical to our national economy and fundamental to delivering our Industrial Strategy.”
