As part of the ongoing thought leadership programme the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Semiconductors was interested to note the paper published by Advisory Board vice chair and chair of CS Connected Wyn Meredith.
In the paper Wyn focussed on the current status of UK semiconductors and how the industry supports the defence sector at this critical juncture. Specifically Wyn identified and set out a prospective road map towards securing a sovereign resilience in the UK supply chain to preserve and protect the imminent expansion of the defence budget.
Commenting on this article, Wyn said:
"There is nothing more important than the defence of the Realm. The UK has had to play catch up over the last few years, but we are now making some solid progress, backed by the UK and Welsh governments, to create a resilient domestic semiconductor industry.
In an increasingly dangerous world, and with the UK’s increased commitment to NATO requiring a much larger Defence spend, it is even more critical that we prioritise UK defence spending on the domestic supply chain, recognising the significant opportunities this will bring.”
