The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Semiconductors Expert Advisory Board met this week to discuss the ongoing work to support the recommendations of the recently published Growth Paper, but also to commission a new APPG Study Paper on National Security.

Commenting on the launch, APPG Chair Ruth Jones MP commented:

"With a successful paper published earlier in the year focusing on the critical importance of semiconductors to the growth agenda of the economy, something endorsed by the Semiconductors Minister Kanishka Narayan MP at our January parliamentary event, I am delighted to commission this new work.

The APPG Advisory Board brings some of the most senior and experienced experts in the country together and they share the concerns of APPG members that the UK needs to promote this growing industry to support our national security objectives.

Semiconductors are a necessity in the fast evolving technology advancements and ensuring we have a sufficient domestic supply chain to support the defence of the realm is of huge importance."

Over the next four months the Advisory Board, together with MPs and Peers from the APPG, will develop an authoritative paper focusing on how the UK government can best align its strategy for national security with the evolving success story that is the UK semiconductors sector.
